June 2nd, 2012 Morse Reservoir…
The third event of the 2012 Angler’s Choice Region three Indianapolis trail was held on Morse Reservoir on June 2nd, 2012. The 2012 season has had a tremendous start with the fish that have been caught and weighed in. The weights have been off the charts and everyone is beginning to take notice. I am not sure if we have hit the time of year right, if the weather has cooperated, if it has something to do with fishing on Saturday’s, the quality of fishermen or a combination of all the above, but this trail is producing some astronomical weigh-ins. The weather forecast was for a cooler day, actually twenty degrees cooler than just two days before and a brisk west wind. The conditions were perfect for another monster weigh in. Congratulations to Jim Vanzo and Richard Eaglin. Jim and Richard absolutely smoked them, as they brought in their five best fish that weighed 18.24 pounds. What is kind of silly is they needed every ounce as they eclipsed the second place team by only thirteen hundreds of a pound. Jim and Richard are new to the trail this year, but they are not new to the area, as they have proven early they are going to be a threat at every tournament. Congratulations guys on your first win and a great start to the season. Congratulations to Aaron Ault and Jason Herrell. Not new to the trail, and not new to being at the top of the leader board, coming off a big win in our last tournament, Aaron and Jason put together another run at a win. Coming up just shy of their second win of the season, Aaron and Jason weighed in at 18.11 pounds. Congratulations guys on another solid tournament and positioning yourself for a run at angler’s of the year. In third place was the team of Bud Smart and Dave Coffing. Bud and Dave had an outstanding day as well; bringing in five fish that weighed 16.3 pounds. Bud and Dave have gotten off to a slow start this year, but this is about the time they begin to pick up momentum, and when these two guys start to pick up momentum it is difficult for them to slow down. Rounding out the top five were the teams of Mark Randolph and Erin McCormick and Chris Lawson and Brandon Kappes. Mark and Erin weighed in at 16.19 pounds and Chris and Brandon weighed in at 16.03 pounds respectively. The team of Chris Glover and Jeff Hampton were able to weigh the biggest fish of the day, a beautiful 4.45 pound largemouth. Another unbelievable result of this event was the top five teams weighed in 84.87 pounds, for a 3.39 average. Also, seventeen teams of the twenty that participated in the event weighed in a limit. Special thanks go out to our 2012 sponsors: Legend Boats, Mercury Outboards, Motor Guide, Bass West USA, Bass Tackle Depot, Swim Bait Nation, Power Pole, Hinkle Construction, High Tech Motor Sports, Nolly’s Fiberglass, Lafayette Copier, Trash Kans LLC., Westbrook Agency and Twin Lakes Fish and Game. The fourth event of the season will be held on Geist Reservoir on June 30th. Sunrise that day is 6:20 a.m. The meeting will be held at 6:05 a.m. and weigh in will be 2:30 p.m.
